Why don’t you show me
Coffeejob is going amazing. There really is no other way to state it. The only downside are the immense syrup stains I find myself somehow covered with at the end of my shift.
I am so ridiculously encouraged by this job, which I find ironic, as my sister has worked it for two years now, and is completely fed up with it. Granted, I’m still training and saved some of the hustle, bustle, and sharpness that partners are expected to have, but I still love the business and the general atmosphere.
I find it funny that I’m feeling so uplifted and happy with my newfound employment. Normally by this time in the summer I am worn down and tired, and ready for school to start again.
Here I am: I am recovering from six weeks of unemployment, and eight weeks of a spectacular and tiring job corralling twelve-year-olds from the outdoors to the classroom and also sleep. I am so behind on my studies that my goal is to graduate with my bachelor’s before 2012, and next term my prospects for in-class time are slim.
And at the moment, just to reiterate: I am excited, which I find surprising. I have a dear friend who is just starting her masters, completing an amazing job doing research, living on her own, volunteering in her church and in a barn, and has more of a structured future than I think I will ever have, and she’s just hit upon her end-of-summer blues. THAT IS HOW I AM SUPPOSED TO BE FEELING. I cannot wait for her plane to fly in next week (at midnight, no less) so I can harass her with terrible jokes and throw pillows at her head.

Yar, I’m going to the airport to pick her up. Want to come? Or do you work the next day?

Oh, man, do you know how much driving I’ll be doing that day? I’m going to leave at six or seven AM. DRIVE ALLLLLL THE WAY HOME, eat dinner and rest for a bit, then drive to the airport to pick Kristi up. Company would be appreciated.
BUt yeah, I don’t want to keep you up late if you’re working the next day or something. :)

You can really do all that driving in ONE DAY?! Won’t you like, die?
But yeah, if I can, I’m so totally there! The schedule just got posted (I, uh, think?) so I need to doublecheck, but I REALLY WANT TO GO.
